Position is 234 days and 12 paid Holidays; a typical work week Monday - Friday with an expectation of no more than 40 hours per week. On short weeks, normal daily hours apply, e.g., on a four day week, weekly hours would be 32. Some evening and occasional Saturday is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have a BA degree in Social Services, Psychology, Family Studies, Human Services or related field. SSW or CSW is desirable.
• Must have a minimum of two years experience providing social services for low-income clientele or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Three years relevant supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education with demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision, communications, and budget management.
• Ability to speak Spanish is required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
• Ability to use a computer to collect, record, and retrieve data and prepare reports.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer activities.
• Ability to plan, formulate and execute record keeping procedures in accordance with
assigned duties.
• Ability to prioritize and manage work load and meet strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of community resources and how to access services for children and families.
• Well versed in family dynamics.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, subordinates, parents, Board members, community groups, and other related agencies and people.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ( Not All Inclusive):
1. Coordinates with the Family & Community Services Director, the Enrollment Coordinator and the Family and Community Services Coordinator in implementing the goals and objectives of the service area in a way that supports the agency’s school readiness plan.
2. Works under the direction of the Family and Community Services Director to assess and enhance PFCE practices in the program utilizing the Markers of Progress as a resource.
3. Supports Family Advocates with their efforts to provide professional case management, prevention and early intervention services to assist each Head Start family in becoming self-sufficient and meeting their social service needs.
4. Supports Family Advocates in their collaborative efforts with Health Specialists to help families establish and maintain medical and dental homes and remind families to obtain all required medical assessment, treatment, immunizations and follow-up.
5. For assigned sites, oversees attendance and child absence procedures and works closely with the ERSEA Coordinator to monitor changes in enrollment status.
6. Promotes parent & male engagement according to the Performance Standards and the Parent, Family and Community Engagement Framework.
7. Has primary responsibility for planning and directing transition activities to facilitate parent engagement in transitions.
8. Implements the National Fatherhood and Male Involvement Initiative at the agency level.
9. For assigned sites, coordinates with Family Advocates in providing assistance and support to the Parent Committees.
10. Coordinates with the Family & Community Services Director and other Coordinators in providing technical assistance and an organized training program for parents and staff.
11. For assigned sites, oversees the identification and follow-up of the social service needs of the families in Head Start and directs the process of forming Family Partnership Agreements with each family. Participates in data collection and measuring family outcomes through the Family Partnership: Strengths & Needs Assessment.
12. Assists the service area Director and the Enrollment Coordinator with the recruitment/enrollment process to assure the timely enrollment of eligible children.
13. Directly responsible and takes the lead in the development of the monthly parent newsletters and assures all service areas are represented.
14. Assures that Family Advocates function as integral and supportive team members of the center Head Start staff and work closely with teaching staff to accomplish all tasks.
15. Other job-related duties as assigned may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
